On Saturday, February 19 at 9:45 a.m., photographer Gary Samson and art historian Inez McDermott will discuss “New Hampshire Now: A Photographic Diary of Life in the Granite State” during the Monadnock Writers Monthly Lecture Series ‘ Group.

“New Hampshire Now,” a photography exhibit and book, is the culmination of a three-year project involving nearly 50 photographers recording images of daily life in the state. Samson, photography editor and project director of “New Hampshire Now”, is an award-winning fine art photographer and educator who was named New Hampshire’s Artist Laureate in 2018.

McDermott is professor of art history at New England College. She sits on statewide arts and humanities boards and curates major exhibitions. She and Samson will explore how “New Hampshire Now” creates a visual archive of contemporary life in all parts of New Hampshire.

Since 1984, Monadnock Writers’ Group (MWG) has supported local writers of all genres and levels of achievement. Monthly meetings, held on the third Saturday of each month, bring a variety of writers to the area to share their experiences. In addition, MWG publishes periodic anthologies and “Smoky Quartz”, a semi-annual online journal of literature and art.
